Meal Planning Made Simple (Family Dinner Ideas)
March always feels like that in-between season — not quite spring, not quite winter. I’ve learned that having dinners planned ahead makes our evenings calmer and helps me avoid the 4:30 p.m. “what’s for supper?” scramble.
Here’s what we’re eating this month — a mix of comfort meals, different proteins, leftovers (because real life), and a few family favorites. Some recipes are my own, some are favorites from Tastefully Simple, and a few are inspired by other creators — I’ve linked everything so you can easily find what you need.

🌻 Week 2 Meals- Family Favorites from My TS Kitchen
This week’s meals are all inspired by some of our favorite Tastefully Simple recipes. These are tried-and-true dinners that bring big flavor without a lot of fuss — exactly what I need in the middle of a busy month.
Artichoke & Spinach Stuffed Chicken
A slightly elevated dinner that still feels simple. This is one of our family’s favorite Tastefully Simple recipes — creamy, flavorful, and perfect for when I want something that feels a little special without being complicated.

🌻 Week 3 Meals
Taqueria Pork Bowls
Bright, bold, and easy to customize. This is one of those meals that works for everyone because you can build your bowl exactly how you like it.

Green Enchiladas (St. Patrick’s Twist)
This one is inspired by a recipe from Old El Paso, and it’s such a fun option. The green sauce makes it feel festive for St. Patrick’s Day, but it’s still a cozy, family-friendly dinner.
I make it a little milder by using Rotel instead of a full can of green chiles, and using a rotisserie chicken makes this come together even faster on busy nights.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Potatoes
Hearty and easy — all the best parts of a loaded baked potato in one comforting dish. Crispy potatoes, savory chicken, smoky bacon, melty cheese, and plenty of ranch make this one a guaranteed family favorite.

Fiesta Fish Tacos
A lighter option that still feels filling. This recipe originally calls for mahi mahi, but we’ve made it with cod, tilapia, and even shrimp depending on what we have on hand. It’s fresh, flavorful, and a nice break from heavier comfort meals. I make a cilantro lime rice to go with!

🌻 Week 4 Meals
Meatloaf
Classic, simple, and dependable. I’ll be honest — I usually make this from scratch without measuring or following a recipe, so it’s never exactly the same twice. Somehow, that’s part of the charm. The family loves it every time.
I promise I’ll actually write it down soon and share the recipe properly!
Buttery Garlic Chicken
A quick skillet-style meal from the Tastefully Simple recipe collection that’s packed with flavor and comes together fast — perfect for busy weeknights. It’s simple, savory, and one of those dinners that feels a little elevated without extra effort.
We usually pair it with a fresh Caesar salad for an easy, balanced meal.

Grilled Balsamic Pork Chops
Perfect as we (hopefully!) ease into spring weather. I originally found this recipe from The Pioneer Woman, and it was so good I wrote it straight into my Family Favorites cookbook. The grilled balsamic pork chops are flavorful and juicy, and the peach, feta, and arugula side salad that goes with it is absolutely wonderful — fresh, bright, and the perfect complement.

🌻 Why I Plan This Way
I intentionally:
- Plan leftovers into the calendar
- Leave weekends open
- Mark days that I know I’ll be gone
- Mix comfort food with lighter options
- Keep ingredients overlapping to save money
Meal planning doesn’t have to be complicated. It just needs to reduce stress.
🌻 Why I Mix Tastefully Simple Recipes + My Own
If you’ve followed along for a while, you know I don’t cook one way — I cook the way real life requires.
Some weeks I lean into tried-and-true Tastefully Simple recipes because they’re dependable, flavorful, and take the guesswork out of dinner. Other nights, I’m pulling together family favorites, freezer meals, or simple comfort food that’s been in our rotation for years.
For me, meal planning isn’t about perfection — it’s about balance.
I mix:
- Brand recipes I trust
- Meals I’ve tweaked over time
- Slow cooker staples
- Leftover nights (because those matter too)
That combination keeps our menu realistic and sustainable.
I love having high-quality seasonings and easy recipe ideas in my back pocket — but I also love making them work for our family, our schedule, and whatever season we’re in.
Simple. Flexible. Real life.
Here’s to simple dinners, fuller tables, and meals that bring everyone together — even on the busiest nights.
Before you go — I’d love to know…
