5 Simple Steps to Reset Every Day đŸŒ»

Life gets busy — between family, work, and everything in between, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by clutter and unfinished tasks. But a daily reset doesn’t have to be complicated. By taking just a few intentional minutes each day, you can bring calm back into your home and set yourself up for success tomorrow.

Here are 5 simple steps to reset your day:

1. Clear the Surfaces

Counters, tables, and desks are clutter magnets. Take 5 minutes at the end of the day to clear off anything that doesn’t belong — mail, cups, random toys, etc. A clean surface instantly makes your space feel calmer.

💡 In our home, we set Alexa for 5 minutes and see who can do the most. Kids love a challenge — and let’s be honest, it doesn’t feel like cleaning if it’s a game!

2. Do a Quick Sweep

Grab a basket or tote and walk through the main living areas. Toss in anything that’s out of place (shoes, laundry, books) and put them away. This saves you from chasing clutter all week long.

💡 TIP: Give each kid a small tote or basket with their name on it. During the sweep, have them put their own things away. It makes cleanup quick — and teaches responsibility, too.

3. Reset the Kitchen

Load the dishwasher, wipe down the counters, and set out coffee or breakfast basics for tomorrow. Waking up to a fresh kitchen changes the tone of your whole day.

☕ Don’t forget the coffee pot — having it ready to go is a total game changer. What should be a quiet task in the morning always seems to end with spilled coffee grounds or dropping the water reservoir in the sink and waking up the kids. Start your morning with coffee ready to hit “brew” — and enjoy those few moments of peace and quiet while you can!

4. Prep for Tomorrow

Lay out clothes, pack or plan lunches, prepare school bags, and jot down your top 3 to-dos for the next day. This simple prep helps your mornings run smoother and cuts down on decision fatigue.

💡 TIP: In our house, we set out all the kids’ clothes for Monday–Friday on Sunday evenings. That way, all we have to do each night is check that the weather is still on track, and they’re ready to go for the next morning!

5. Create a Calm Moment

Finish your reset by dimming the lights, turning on a diffuser, or sitting quietly with tea. Decluttering isn’t just about stuff — it’s about resetting your mind, too.

⌚ Do you use a smartwatch? Chances are, it has a built-in breathing exercise. Take just 2 minutes to follow it before winding down for the night — a simple way to calm your mind and prepare for restful sleep.

đŸŒ» Remember: a reset doesn’t have to be perfect. Even if you only get through 2 or 3 steps, you’ll still feel more organized and in control. The goal is progress, not perfection.
